Karrie Fernandes

Employee Spotlight Award Winner, Spring 2016!
Karrie Fernandes is the Director of Day Services for the Raynham Day Program in Cape Cod and South Eastern Massachusetts (formerly Mashpee).

Karrie began her career with May Institute 12 years ago as an Overnight Residential staff. With the assistance of the tuition reimbursement program, she was able to complete her schooling and pursue increasing roles of responsibility. Karrie was a Program Coordinator, Developmental Specialist, and an Assistant Clinical Director before accepting her most recent position as Director.

When Karrie was promoted to Program Director last year, she had the arduous task of leading a program that was in flux. With the help of her staff, Karrie worked hard to unite and rebuild the program. In so doing, Karrie gained the respect and admiration of her staff and colleagues. Her staff continually describe her as a talented, dedicated, and passionate leader that works to provide exciting learning opportunities for the individuals served.

Karrie’s nominators state that she not only acknowledges and appreciates their work, but she leads by example – jumping in to help when and wherever needed, teaching and enabling them to grow, being receptive to new ideas – in essence, raising the bar for the program and for her staff.

I truly appreciate all the kind words from those who nominated me for the spotlight award. There have been many administrative changes in the Mashpee Center over the past few years. The Raynham Day program has pushed through these difficult times, proving that if you truly love what you do in your heart, you will not falter when times get hard. Raynham is a great program because of the staff that work here every day and love what they do.”
