Crisis Stabilization Unit

The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a 10-bed hospital diversion program in Hyannis, Mass., for adults with major mental illness. The program helps to stabilize an individual in crisis and serves as an alternative to hospitalization. It is also utilized as a step-down from a hospital.

Treatment is aimed at restoring the ability of the consumers to maintain safety while enhancing their recovery, so they can return to the community. Our mission is to help promote healthy and successful community living in the least restrictive environment.

All individuals at the CSU have access to clinical treatment groups throughout the day and early evening. An LICSW and Certified Alcohol Counselor (CAC) conduct a variety of interactive groups. Each consumer meets with the LICSW to develop an individualized treatment plan to work on while at CSU as well as a plan upon discharge. We have psychiatry services on site, and on-call psychiatry available 24 hours a day.
