It all started with May Institute’s strong commitment to bringing critical autism-related resources directly to the community. Through their Stars & Strikes® bowling fundraiser, Cadence Design Systems helped make this vision a reality and bring services to children and families across Silicon Valley.
In May 2008, Cadence named May Institute a beneficiary of the Stars & Strikes® fundraising event. This selection marked the start of a major initiative to improve the lives of children and families across the Silicon Valley region. Through this inspiring event, Cadence Design Systems and their 200+ corporate colleagues and business partners raised $1,045,000 in start-up funds for the Center.
This exceptionally generous support enabled us to open the May Institute Pediatric Specialty Center in San Jose within months of the event. The Pediatric Specialty Center was developed through a unique partnership between May Institute, the Silicon Valley Children’s Hospital Foundation (SVCHF), and Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose.
The Stars & Strikes® bowling tournament featured members of the San Francisco 49ers football team, and business and civic leaders, including San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed. Since 1990, Cadence employees and corporate and community partners have raised more than $10 million to support Silicon Valley nonprofit organizations that are meeting critical community needs.
