Residential Living
The community-based residential services of the May Center for Education
and Neurorehabilitation are an extension of the day school programs
and services. They provide residential education for students who
have recently left rehabilitation centers and hospitals, as well as
for students with long-term needs. Residential students attend classes
with day school students, while also working on strengthening their
social, daily living, and recreational skills, including meal preparation,
shopping and community leisure activities. Residential teams and school-based
teachers coordinate efforts to ensure a consistent approach to each
student’s educational plan.
The school provides four community residences and one on-site residence,
each supporting between eight and 10 students. The residences support
interaction with peers and classmates living in other houses.
