After-School &
Outreach
May Institute offers a number of programs to support at-risk children
and adolescents and/or those with behavioral healthcare issues.
The Therapeutic After-School Program (TAP) is a clinical program
designed to meet the needs of high-risk children between the ages
of 8 and 13 and to promote stabilization and re-integration into
the community. A high staff-to-child ratio (2:1) ensures individualized
support and guidance. The program provides support in the following
areas:
- Group Treatment
- Skills Training
- Homework Assistance
- Socialization
- Family Support
Therapeutic After-School Programs are available through the May Counseling
Center in West
Roxbury and through Children and Teen Connections in New
Bedford, Massachusetts. A Massachusetts Department of Mental Health
referral is necessary.
Children and Teen Connections in New
Bedford, Massachusetts, also provides one-on-one support to high-risk
adolescents and young adults ages 16-18 through consultation with
families, one-on-one skills training, and community-based opportunities
for socialization.
Children’s Services
May Institute also offers consultation services for children ages 4-19 in southeastern Massachusetts. These services, which assist children and their families in the home setting, provide behavior management and links to additional resources. Services are provided through Children's Services at Hyland Clinic in Fall
River, Massachusetts.
