| Day Schools
May Institute schools are nationally recognized as leaders in "best practice" education for children with developmental disabilities. Our day school programs and educational services in residential schools provide individualized education and/or vocational training support to children (ages 3 through 22) diagnosed with autism, pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), and other developmental disabilities.
May provides educational services in the classroom in accordance with each student's Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). Data is collected on a daily basis regarding each objective, allowing for careful analysis of individual student progress.
Our programs also address behaviors that may interfere with learning such as self-injury, aggression, tantrums, and stereotypy (repetitive behavior). May Institute's school-based consultation
services include diagnosis, assessment and evaluation, technical assistance formulation, Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and professional development (seminars and workshops).
The goal of our educational services is to transition all students back to a less restrictive environment by focusing on the development of greater independence in all activities of daily living. Parent education and support are important components of the program.
