| May Institute’s
Graduate Scholars Program is designed for college graduates who
aspire to earn a master’s degree and pursue a career in applied
behavior analysis (ABA), education, or behavioral healthcare, but
also need to earn a living. The program offers full tuition reimbursement;
free housing; full-time, paid clinical work experience in the behavior
healthcare field; and the opportunity to simultaneously work toward
a degree and Behavior Analyst Certification (BACB).
Who is eligible?
College graduates with good academic records and a willingness to
commit to an intense work/study program are eligible for the May
Institute’s Graduate Scholars Program. You must first apply
and be accepted into the May Institute program. Once you are accepted,
we will work with you as you apply to one of the following graduate
programs:
- Applied Behavior Analysis (M.S.) at Northeastern University
- Special Education (M.Ed.) at Fitchburg State College
- Clinical Psychology (M.A.) at Bridgewater State College
- Special Education (M.Ed.) at Westfield State College
Start at the Top
May Graduate Scholars will join a staff that includes many doctoral-level
professionals (clinical
leadership) and hundreds of highly trained teachers, therapists,
as well as other specialists. Scholars are supervised by recognized
leaders in the fields of applied behavior analysis and special education.
Pursue Research Interests
Students joining the May family as Graduate Scholars will be encouraged
to pursue their research interests. May is an active center of research
and training, and is affiliated with more than 40 universities, hospitals, and
human service agencies worldwide. The Institute also benefits from
the expertise of a Professional
Advisory Board whose members include leading authorities in the
field.

Over the years, our staff have authored more than 300 publications, made over 1,500 presentations, and provided
consultation services to hundreds of public and private schools, hospitals,
and agencies.
Four Great Choices
Northeastern
University – Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis
Northeastern University is a large, private school located in Boston.
Its applied behavior analysis master of science degree program is
a 49-credit curriculum designed to be completed within three years.
Students may specialize in brain injury, developmental disabilities,
instructional technology, childhood chronic health problems, or
mental health. Classes are held in close proximity to work locations.
Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for certification
before the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Fitchburg State College – Master of Education in Special Education
Through its affiliation with Fitchburg State College, in Fitchburg,
Massachusetts, May Institute offers its employees the opportunity
to earn a master of education in special education. This 45-credit
program also enables students to become certified to teach individuals
with intensive special needs. The curriculum is designed around
supervised, field-based assignments, and classes are held in locations
convenient to student work sites.
Bridgewater State
College – Master of Arts in Psychology
Bridgewater State College is a mid-sized public college located
just 30 minutes south of Boston. Bridgewater’s master of arts
in psychology degree program is a clinical program designed to help
students become excellent therapists and users of research. Classes
are held in convenient locations. Students may apply 15 hours of
supervised fieldwork to the 60-credit hour requirement. This program
fulfills the academic requirements for Licensed Mental Health Counselors
in Massachusetts.
Westfield State College - Master of Education in Special Education
Westfield State College's program is designed to help students become certified as teachers of children with intensive disabilities. Seminars in applied behavior analysis (ABA) are offered to prepare students for the national BCBA examination. The college is located in western Massachusetts, and offers a variety of supervised practicum experiences.
