Development Research Analyst Intern

The development team is looking for an intern that can help with prospective donor research, database management and program development.

Responsibilities:

Research and synthesize biographical and financial information on individuals, foundations and corporations to create research profiles for fundraising priorities

  • Prepare short biographies quickly and efficiently
  • Disseminate information on prospects’ interests, affinity to May Institute, and philanthropic support
  • Work collaboratively with development team to understand the specific needs of our constituency
  • Analyze and prioritize data to assist development staff in portfolio management
  • Participate in meetings with development staff to present research findings and discuss available information
  • Collaborate with development staff to provide information important to the development of qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies
  • Perform other duties as directed

Requirements:

  • Significant aptitude and experience with computers, sophisticated internet research, and relational databases
  • Knowledge of internet navigation tools and research tools available; ability to analyze and synthesize financial information; knowledge of financial terminology; and ability to research and analyze corporations and foundations
  • Excellent written communication skills and a clear, concise writing style
  • Strong editing, spelling, and grammar skill
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments

 


Fundraising/Development Intern

Are you interested in learning more about the ways in which a non-profit diversifies, solicits, and secures funding? If yes, this position is for you! The Fundraising/Development Intern will support the development team in the following three areas:

Donor Cultivation and Engagement

  • Assist in the development of annual fund and special event collateral
  • Work with the development team on the facilitation of special events (e.g., Rodman Ride for Kids
  • Solicit local businesses and other corporations for raffle ticket and silent auction prizes

Grant Writing

  • Work closely with the Grant Writer to write, submit, and document grants to local foundations
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date grant calendar to ensure that applications and reports are submitted on time

Prospect Research

  • Conduct research on major gift prospects, corporations, and foundations by analyzing financial, biographical, and philanthropic data
  • Record and manage information in donor database

Requirements

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive and detail-oriented
  • Able to commit to a minimum of 10-15 hours per week

Compensation

This internship is unpaid. Students who are eligible for work-study through their university may be able to utilize this position for work-study funds.
