Brockton School Gymnasium
The May Center for Education and Neurorehabilitation in Brockton is
one of the few programs in the country designed to help children rehabilitate
and recover from a traumatic brain injury. To provide our students
with a more versatile and therapeutic environment, we have begun a
campaign to upgrade and renovate both our existing gymnasium and physical
therapy room. Campaign Goal: $100,000
Computers for May Schools
Over the next three years, our goal is to upgrade the classroom
computers and computer software in our five schools. This will give
us the ability to provide our students with the most comprehensive
learning resources and help to advance their development. Campaign
Goal: $100,000
Chatham School Gymnasium
The May Center for Child Development in Chatham is a nationally recognized
special education program dedicated to serving the needs of children
with autism and other developmental disabilities. A campaign is underway
to raise support for the construction of a gymnasium on the Chatham
campus. This is a vitally important resource which will enhance both
the quality of life and health for our students. Campaign
Goal: $250,000
Springfield School
The May Institute is developing a new school for children with autism
in western Massachusetts. The school will provide advanced educational
and developmental services to children living in the Greater Springfield
area. A campaign is underway to raise start-up support for the school.
Campaign Goal: $100,000
Easton Group Home
A campaign is underway to build a community group home in Easton for
four disabled young men. Families, friends, and local businesses are
working together to secure donations of land and building materials.
This project is in keeping with the May Institute’s commitment
to enhancing independence through community living. Campaign
Goal: $500,000 (Includes land, building materials, and labor)
Healthy Aging Initiative
The aging of the disabled population requires a greater understanding
of ways to promote and sustain a high level of health and wellness
over the life of the individual. A campaign is underway to support
a research and training initiative in over 100 community-based residences
in Massachusetts over the next several years. The study will address
the health needs of aging individuals with developmental disabilities,
as well as the training of direct care professionals. Campaign
Goal: $250,000
Mashpee Center Greenhouse
The May Institute is committed to enhancing each individual’s
level of physical, social, and intellectual independence through
structured, therapeutic programs. A campaign is underway to develop
a greenhouse to provide adults in our Mashpee Center program with
an opportunity for vocational and therapeutic development. Campaign
Goal: $100,000
Annual Fund
Unrestricted annual donations help us to sustain our programs at
the highest levels, develop new and innovative efforts to benefit
those in need, and remain at the forefront of our field through
scholarship and research. Annual Fund Goal: $100,000

Named in honor of Dr. Jacques and Marie-Anne May, founders of the
May Institute, the May Society is our annual leadership giving program.
May Society members are dedicated donors who contribute $1,000 or
more each year to support services for individuals living with autism,
mental retardation, brain injury, and other disabilities. May
Society Goal: $100,000
