Karen E. Gould, Ph.D.
Vice President, Professional Development
Karen E. Gould, Ph.D., is the Vice President of Professional Development
at the May Institute and Director of the Applied Behavior Analysis
Program at Northeastern University. In 1976, Dr. Gould founded the
Northeastern University Master of Science Program in Applied Behavior
Analysis, which is currently one of the largest graduate programs
in applied behavior analysis in the country. She has been a consultant
to federal and state agencies on the development of social policy
and service programs and to institutions of higher learning on the
development of educational programs.
Dr. Gould received her Ph.D. in developmental and child psychology
at the University of Kansas. She has been the recipient of numerous
federal grants for research, personnel development, demonstration
projects, and information dissemination in areas including aging,
autism, cultural diversity, early intervention, transitional services,
veteran’s services, and information and referral systems. Her
work has been published in The Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis,
American Journal on Mental Retardation, Journal for the Alliance of
Information and Referral Systems, and the proceedings of the
Gatlinburg Conference on Research in Mental Retardation and International
Symposium on the Role of Universities in Developing Areas.
